Madrid: 4 hours 5 stops

After a 4 hour delay flight from Austin to NYC and rescheduled connecting flights from NYC to Paris to Madrid, we arrived in Madrid yesterday around 5 in the afternoon. We were originally scheduled to arrive in Madrid at 8 in the morning, so we lost a whole day. Good thing the Spaniards start their days late, we are still hours ahead of their ordinary dinner time. Here’s my revised Day 1 itinerary for Madrid, 7pm to 11pm – March 2017.

We took a cab from Madrid-Barajas Int’l Airport to the city center for €30 flat fee. It was very necessary after our flight troubles. After checking in at the hotel, we went to Zara (Calle Gran Vía, 34, 28013 Madrid) because lucky us, our luggage got stuck in transition, and David was wearing only t-shirt and shorts—a bad combination in the windy spring of Madrid. Once we got a new outfit for the evening, we started to wander around. Read on for our exciting evening with (1) Puerta del Sol, (2) La Mallorquina, (3) Plaza Mayor, (4) Mercado de San Miguel, and the sweet ending of (5) Chocolateria San Ginés.

It’s nice that it shows how long the overall walk is, but I wish there was less distraction of other shops and sites. Let me know what you think, do you prefer the GoogleMap image or would you like a more custom one?
